Re: An Easter Egg?

Commander,

We've found something...something that appears to be an egg. While we're not as of yet sure the origins or species this egg can be attributed to, we find it interesting to discover it was aboard a Demon Class Planet in the Amphora System, Amphora 3. This is quite close to Pinastri and to the enhanced science facilities aboard Athena we will be heading to rendezvous with your station and drop off the egg.

RE: Operational Response - A Time to be Born

As you all no doubt know by now, due to the recent finding of the Egg by the USS Rotterdam on nearby Amphora III we need to be aware. The full scope of this is not completely known at this time however I'd rather us be ready than be caught unaware. Due to information discussed and obtained from both the Rotterdam and Command Rasmuson the following are orders.

Orders

All Ships and Stations - Monitor Y-class planets for any indication of additional eggs or the possibility of an infestation. All Officers and security personal will be briefed and prepared to escalate security as needed. All participants are instructed to keep an eye out for any Y class (Demon) planets and to investigate thoroughly to determine whether or not an egg was or could be found. Any Y class planets in the area of Ships should be investigated and checked for similar eggs. This will help us determine what we're dealing with and where they are...we may indeed have an infestation on our hands. This should be kept strictly confidential. Keep it on a need to know basis, mass panic is not needed if indeed the situation gets dire.

Academy - Cadets are restricted from visiting any Y-class planets until further notice and until more information is available on the egg we've found.

Engineering - Should see what structures or otherwise are needed to house and maintain the egg. If we get into a multiple egg situation new forcefields or stronger ones may be needed.

Intelligence - Is ordered and instructed to work with Operations regarding any pirate issues as well as keeping a close watch on this situation regarding eggs on Y Class Planets or perhaps others. Intelligence officers should monitor the Y class planets in outlaying sectors if able via readings and report on Station and Ships summaries and findings.

Marines - Is ordered to send Aerospace to scout out planet Pinastri I. If an egg is found it should be retrieved and taken to another station in the area. As Athena has an egg already another Station should be given possession of the egg. Summary and reports should be forward once situation has been assessed.

Medical - Should retrieve samples and summaries of the testing on the Egg currently in Athena's possession in an attempt to offer any assistance or extrapolate on what could possibly be inside. Work in conjunction with science.

Operations - Keep monitoring communications and alert Command if anything comes up. Due to Pirate activities that have been in several of the outlaying systems and sectors, it’d be good to keep track of our own areas to ensure nothing comes up. In addition monitor civilian comm frequencies for possible chatter of eggs found on Y-Class or other planets similar to our own.

Science - Should work with Medical on looking at the samples and summaries provided by the crew of SS Athena. Also should map out in which sectors and systems we've previously found Y-Class planets.

Security - Security personal should be briefed and prepared to escalate security as needed. Begin running different scenarios and drills of possible outcome

RE: A Time to Be Born - Operational Update and Instructions

So far we've found two eggs on Amphora III and Pinastri 1. The situation is seeming to be more than we had anticipated. We have many questions however few answers. Who do these eggs belong to? What species are they? We do know that they are likely reptilian in appearance. Will the eggs hatch? If they do hatch what then? Do we have any records of a species similar to this? All these questions need answers and as such we need to be sure we can provide them. The goal and objective being to be a step ahead rather than a step behind of any situation that could develop. All information below should be READY and PREPARED by THIS WEEKENDS Fleet Command meeting on stardate 101031.0800 I.E. Sunday October 31st @ 8am SLT. Each Ship, Station, and Branch will need to REPORT on their assignments and what they know.

This will help us determine what we're dealing with and where they are...we may indeed have an infestation on our hands. This should be kept strictly confidential. Keep it on a need to know basis, mass panic is not needed if indeed the situation gets dire. In layman's terms, information is on a NEED TO KNOW basis.

Academy - Ensure that cadets are kept safely away from Y-Class planets. As well inform cadets to be wary and watchful.

Engineering - Continue to maintain structures and forcefields to contain the eggs. Ensure that we have the necessary strength needed.

Intelligence - Is ordered and instructed to keep a close watch on this situation regarding eggs on Y Class Planets or perhaps others. Intelligence officers should monitor the Y class planets in outlaying sectors if able via readings and work with Science and various ships of the Fleet to further explore any outlaying areas.

Marines - Well done on your mission to Pinastri 1. Your teams did well and recovered the objective, analysis of the area will be quite valuable as we attempt to further deduce what is inside the eggs found.

Medical - Should retrieve samples and summaries of the testing on the Egg currently in SS Athena and SS Tranquility's possession in an attempt to offer any assistance or extrapolate on what could possibly be inside. Offer aide to Pathfinder as they attempt to identify the bones found on the surface. Work in conjunction with science.

Operations - Keep monitoring communications and alert Command if anything comes up. Pay specific attention to chatter of eggs found.

Science - Should work with Medical on looking at the samples and summaries provided by the crew of SS Athena and SS Tranquility. Work with Pathfinder to catalog the bones found on the surface and identify a species. Also should map out in which sectors and systems we've previously found Y-Class planets and forwarding that to Fleet Command for investigation.

Security - Security personal should be briefed and prepared to escalate security as needed. Begin running different scenarios and drills of possible outcome

The Following reports are on the analysis of the bone and egg samples, treived from across the sector.

From what can be deduced by scans, the eggs and the bone samples are linked by base elements and composition. DNA genome analysis confirms that they are a common species, however quantum dating reveals that the samples are 9000 years apart. This evidence could possibly be faulty if it could be proved that cellular decay is affected by the two different environments.

The research was carried out by science and medical teams from SS Athena, SS Tranquility, SS Nimbus and the Pathfinder Research Facility.

If further reports are submitted, it is asked that they are added to this collection and list of contributors, and the collection redistributed to all participating parties.

Lieutenant Commander Jorden Allen Stardate 101004 Mission Report : Egg Analysis and Egg-Bone relationship investigations.

On stardate 101003, I and Ensign AthenaDax Zoon, a medical intern from the SS Nimbus were invited to assist SS Tranquility in their research of the eggs found on the Y Class planets in the Pinastri Sector.

Upon arrival, we were escorted to the Science deck and joined by the CO and Vice Chief of Science for the station. The egg here was collected from Pinastri I.

We analysed the data retrieved from previous experiments and determined that neural scans could determine that the egg is alive and also its current status. Neural scans turned back positive, with instinctive reactions to small stimulation, confirming an intelligent being.

Whilst Ensign Zoon was working with the neural scans, the results of previous experiments, such as quantum dating and isotope analysis were compared to notes from Pathfinder Research Facility’s investigations on the bones found in the caves on Pinastri Prime. It was determined that the composition of the eggs is remarkably similar to that of the bones, including both base elements and complex molecules. The dating results however turned back negative. The eggs appear to be only 2000 years old, however the bones date back to around 9000 BC, making them over 7000 years apart.

Due to this lack of cohesion between dating, yet seemingly identical composition, it can be deduced that the different environments in which the samples were found could be the reasoning for lack of cohesion. Further investigations should be conductive to confirm this. Class Y planets may slow down cellular decay half life, relative to Class M.

Lt. Mongrain, VCScO of Tranquillity, captured images that suggested a non-reptilian eye configuration, which is currently under investigation. It should be noted, however, that some reptilian species have different eye configurations to the standard slit found in most reptilians. This may be another of those variations and may not be significant.

In conclusion of this discovery and to confirm a common species, a DNA extraction from the living egg is recommended and calculations were performed to determine a location and sample size to extract via transportation. The transportation and DNA analysis will be completed on Tranquility and the sample sent to Pathfinder Research Facility to complete further analysis in the new Medical laboratory.

End of Report.

From the workings of Cmdr Allen, Cadet Zoon, and myself, we have look into the bones that was find on the surface of Pinastri at the inside of the caves. We still much information I think can find out, but for now, all we can find out is the following :

- After seeing the Quantum Dating scans - bones are date at arround 9000 BC - Bones DNA scan report that the DNA is some sort of Reptilian Creature - Isotope anaysis reveal that there is not a crossmatch for anything to the Computer Database - Bone Density is very high - +3 .... Normal bone density is anywear of -1 till +1 ((OOC - from what can I tell after lookup this)) - We can tell till now that the Creature had diet of Plants and meat, but due to decomposition of the bones - we can tell not really what kinds of Plant and Meat the animal diet consist of. - Rate of decomposition suggest that this Animal death occur about 1,000 years ago, not considering the possibe changings in the invironment's. - From length of bones, we can suggest that the animal walk on two legs , and was possible about size or a bit bigger than a human male. - There are a few marked areas on this animal bones - i.e - splentered areas of bone, long scrapes on the bone. A few badly healed up Fractures has been find on the bones - i.e. - 3 ribs, and on the right Femur. - Even with the decomposition, the bones a meneral deposit have on them - i.e - Calcium

I accompanied Lt. Commander Jorden Allen to Tranquility Station to run some tests on the "egg" from Pinastri I. Upon arrival we were greeted by Commander Kinney Randt and shortly after joined by Lieutenant Garethya Mongrain.

We went briefly over what tests had been previously ran on the egg and what the results were. We discussed various things that we could try in order to find out more about it and then began a neural scan. Initially the temperature inside the egg increased slightly but returned to normal almost immediately. When the frequency was lowered during the scan, Lieutenant Mongrain thought she saw some type of movement. I asked Lt. Commander Allen to turn his tricorder frequency down and he turned it off. At that time, I increased the frequency on the neural scan and detected a change in the readings. Fast and small but still a change. I had the computer display a side by side comparison of the nueral scans at different frequencies , include three seconds ahead and following each frequency change. The results showed a definite change coinciding with frequency changes.

During this time Lt. Commander Allen had been going over previous quantum dating results and mentioned that while the egg appeared to be about 9000 years younger than the bones discovered by PRF, the composition and base elements appear to be basically the same.

Lt. Mongrain was able to capture some images of the eye of the thing inside the egg. She noted that it looked like it was not a reptilian eye in appearance, having a round pupil. All of the information was transferred from the science lab to the medical lab where we looked more closely at the image results. The fact that the pupil was more round was confirmed and that it had in fact blinked during a frequency change. Noted some reptiles do have round pupils but this one did not appear to be completely rounded nor did it look reptillian.

After more discussion, we decided to try and attempt to transport a sample out of the egg and into the lab for a DNA test. This was suggested by Lt. Commander Allen. At the present time, it is being calculated exactly how much and from where the sample will come so it can be done precisely and without any damage to the egg or the thing inside.

RE: Egg found on Pinastri One

Commander,

We have received the egg delivered by Second Lieutenant Mitz Xi. For the safety of those studying it, we have placed it in a stasis field matching the conditions of Pinastri 1 to the best of our abilities. this has limited the scans we can perform thus far, but the need for percautions seemed wise.

Using passive scans, we could tell the interior was slightly warmer then the exterior by about 4 degrees. In addidtion, scans showed a curled up reptilian shape within the egg, but when we detected increased electromagnetic readings matching the scan increase, we aborted the scan.

Scans of the shell of the egg show it has been on the surface of Pinastri 1 for over 2000 years. The fact that we are now detecting changes in the electromagnetic readings has me concerned. I am requesting the transporter logs from the marine ship which beamed up the egg, and will inform you of my findings once completed.

Athena Station

10/17/2010

Ensign Miezekatze Lemon and I began an investigation on the Demon egg at 1320 hours.

We first performed a visual scan of the object and then discussed the environs it came from. Given that it was found on a Demon class planet which is rife with an active atmoshpere, severe radiations and temperatures ? we both concurred that it was not unusual for it's shell to be so impervious to scans. Given the type of environment and its embryiotic shell we also agreed that the lifeform would most likely be reptillian as ? postulated. Our first live scan was for lifeform readings which did not penetrate the egg. I decided to try for a more intense wave length scans. Meanwhile Ensign Lemon tried to scan the egg empathically but could not come up with anything conclusive. I started with an Xray scan and it came up negative with nothing in the spectrum. Then I moved onto to Gamma rays, using only non invasive Alpha and Beta rays to not damage any living tissue.

I had a little more success here and recieved a hazy shadow image on the monitor.

Ensign Lemon corroborated my findings. We moved onto an echo scan and had the same results as the Gamma.

The hazy shadow form we could see certainly appeared to be reptilian in nature.

We decided to leave it there for now and I instructed the Ensign that if she did any more investigations on the egg to send me her report.
