After assassinating Captain Dwi, Security Chief Jess Hamelin assumes command and takes the ISS Sheppard to the scheduled meeting between the rebels, seeking benefit for the Empire.

Prelude

Location: Onboard the imperial Warship ISS Sheppard, Somewhere in the Midgar Sector

Captain's log - Stardate 101214

A cooly professional, highly cybernetically enhanced version of Jess comes on screen, robotic red eyes staring into the screen, her sharp metal fingers steepled together, wires coming out from all along her arms to connect to various consoles surrounding her.

CAPTAIN Jess Hamelin reporting. Our former commanding officer had proved to be a problem...an egotistical opportunist only thinking about number 1, rather that the good of the Empire. I couldn't abide that, and as such, she had to be...retired. Our XO, Cmdr Dimsum, I still hold out hope for. She has skills I may have a useful, namely her ability with a surgical blade and willingness to use it. As such, I'm letting her fester in the brig for a while...maybe that enhancement to the neuro-paralytic I shot her with will make her a bit more...cooperative. If not, well, there's more people on this ship. Some even maginally capable..."Collar" Coswell certainly seemed to take a lot of punishment, no doubt thanks to the various implants I had installed in her and the rest of the Security team they're not aware of. I really should make a point of starting the process on the rest of the crew. I'm surrounded by profit monger, psychopaths, and air head...about time I fixed their frail organic bodies.

But I digress. We still have our rebel and mercenary prisoners...I'm of the opinion we may still be able to squeeze some worth out of them. And if not, it's always good to have experiment subjects. The one known as Miqu Naidoo is still sharing the cell beside Cmdr Dimsum. But we have gotten some information...we were able to log into the rebel's defense grid and learn ship numbers and movements, as well as more importantly, the details of the meeting with these Naibraithians. Say what you want about the former Captain (I certainly have), that was a good idea on her part. These Nabraithians intrigue me, both as a potential resource for the Empire, as well as on a personal level. We don't know much, but what we were able gleam is that have some manner of cybernetic technology, which I approve of. As the Daggerfall suffered its tragic accident and loss of all hands...

she smiles a satisfied smile

...we are going to the scheduled meeting we learned from the rebels. And I can't help but think this proves a turning point in the empire.
