The Sheppard crew goes on an undercover mission to reclaim the stolen quantum torpedoes at an auction - but a change of plans forces them to improvise.

Location: Telos Sector, parsec 20

Captain's log, Stardate 110821

The Sheppard crew have been sitting on the Bounty for two days and we are the final approach to our destination. The place for this auction is in a system bordering the Nekrit Expanse called the Wo-Man-Yo system; previous Starfleet scans of the system have shown a few old stations, a medium sized colony world and a particularly tough defense grid.

The Lacer Agenda, it appears, has set up some sort of auction in one of the orbiting stations. From the information gained they quite obviously benefit from the protection of the colonies' defence grid; as a result, going in with the Sheppard would be unwise. In fact, even without that added protection, going in would prove a nightmare: with over thirty other vessels of varying sizes operating in the system, we would have difficulty locating the Federation's torpedo and biogenic component before they scattered.

Having no real juristiction or local effective government in the area, we cannot act to arrest these criminals. However, under our own rules of conduct we cannot allow Federation technology to be used in such a manner. So the course of action we have decided on is to infiltrate and secure the device without the knowledge of the Lacer Agenda and then effect a withdrawal, leaving them none the wiser.

Computer, end log.

Events

Entering the Wo-Man-Yo system, the Sheppard crew found themselves hailed and challenged by the auction station. Once they had provided the right code, they had to navigate through a minefield before making it to the berth that had been assigned to the Bounty. A task force under the command of XO Kaelin Odriscoll discreetly beamed onto the station, while Captain Dwi and Lt. Commander April Coswell remained on the Bounty to make plans for a rapid escape if required.

On the station, Commander Odriscoll's team - with Lacer Agenda leader Lace's grudging help - quickly found the room where the stolen torpedoes were being kept. However, once there, they fell into an ambush and had to fend off an attacker. Furthermore, they found that a device attached to the torpedoes would cause them to explode if the away team attempted to have them beamed out.

On the Bounty, the Captain and Commander Coswell worked on a means to create a diversion by "projecting" two Starfleet vessels approaching the station, weapons hot. Creating this projection, however, required hacking into one of the moored pirate ships' computer to enlist its sensors. The auction station's command quickly acted on the Bounty's "snooping" and ordered the Captain to surrender ship and submit to capture. With a few attack vessels moving towards the Bounty, the Captain ordered Commander Odriscoll's away team to let the torpedoes explode on the station. Once the away team was back onboard, Commander Coswell activated the projection, which worked for a short while - but long enough to allow the Bounty to get to a safe distance before beaming a torpedo in the midst of the pursuing ships. As the torpedo exploded, the station itself also went up in a fireball.
