A plan to leave the nebula without getting destroyed by the Relknoks leaves a severely-damaged Sheppard having to remain on the scene to effect repairs while an away team aboard a Uretchan patrol ship goes to get help.


Prelude

Location: Class 2 Nebula Sector 003E

Captain's log, Stardate 110604.

The events of the last week have left the Sheppard hiding with a number of Uretchan ships in a class 2 nebula on the edge of known Uretchan space. My shuttle mission went awry when we was attacked by a race called the Relknoks. They use some sort of biological technology and seem to have an unknown type of ftl travel. We tried to take cover in the nearby nebula but would have been destroyed if not for a small group of Uretchan clan ships providing a distraction and allowing us to beam off of the shuttle to one of their ships. They where plucky, I'll give them that, despite being no match for their adversary they risked their lives to pull us out. When i asked why, the leader of the small flotilla of three ships simply said it was the honourable thing to do.

The three ships that saved me, one was a patrol ship with for its size a decent amount of weapons and armament, however in the initial attack it lost its command staff and senior officers, the other two ships are merchant in origin. All three where suffering from the virus. The Sheppard provided medical aid and the merchant that had commanded the small flottilla has asked that I take over command and assist them in getting out as despite their attempts everytime they try and leave the nebula the Relnolks appear and attack the convoy. This leaves us in a tricky situation, the merchant ships cannot really provide us with any support and the patrol ship will need to be recrewed at least with more experienced officers if I am to use it to get us out.

As for the Relknoks, i have asked for all data on them so we can do a full tactical analysis before taking action.

Events

The crew came up with a multi-pronged plan to leave the nebula. Two shuttles would be loaded with nuclear explosives left over from the fight against the Nabraithians and deployed ahead of the Sheppard, broadcasting fake communications and different courses meant to confuse the Relknoks. Sheppard would follow, fully prepared for a fight upon exiting the nebula, while the Uretchan convoy, under the command of Lieutenant April Coswell, would exit and make a run for safety.

The plan was successfully put in motion, although not without some damage. One of the shuttles was attacked by the Relknoks and, although the bioship was destroyed by the nuclear explosives, Sheppard was attacked by a set of Relknok fighters while the Uretchan convoy made a run for it. Another nuke which had been kept aboard Sheppard was detonated, but due to the proximity to the Relknok ships the Starfleet vessel was heavily damaged in the explosion, which caused some injuries - including Chief Engineer Zoey Fhang.

The Uretchan convoy, which had come out of the explosion relatively unscathed, came back on the scene. The Sheppard had lost warp drive and had to retreat into the nebula to effect repairs; Captain Dwi hailed the lead patrol ship and ordered Lieutenant Coswell to take the convoy to safety, alert Starfleet and come back with reinforcements.
