Prelude

Our Engineering team have completed repairs to the Freighter and have returned to the USS Neil Armstrong with the promised star charts from the freighter's Captain. Astrometrics have reluctantly completed their observations of the Ultra Blue star.

The starcharts received from the freighter Captain proved to be very similar to the charts already available at Astraios, Treman and other known areas, except for one. This one indicates the blue star system and expands beyond it into unknown territory. At tail end of the chart, a binary system is indicated. Although the number of planets in that system are 5 and not 13 and in the hopes that perhaps the chart is missing some data about additional planets... we have decided to set course for the two stars.

Events

Log Entry: Commander Genny7 Markus, 140209: I decided that we should take a chance and head for the binary system shown at the edge of the starchart presented to us by the freighter's Captain. Although the chart indicated that the system has only 5 planets (rather than the 13 we are looking for) my hope was that the chart might be inaccurate.

We engaged slipstream drive and left the Ultra Blue star system.

Shortly after our arrival at the binary star system, I received a report from the Chief Science Officer, stating that the Iconian artefact they had in the science laboratory, had just started to light up. I asked for scans to be carried out of the system, which revealed energy signatures coming from a planet on the outskirts of the system. I then asked for full scans to be carried of the planet, which revealed that it was class P - an Ice planet. Life signs were detected on the planet's surface, although there appeared to be no signs of technological development.

I asked Captain Quar to lead an Away Team down to the surface of the planet, to see if the source of the energy readings could be found. I decided to remain aboard the 'Armstrong and receive regular reports from the Away Team.

It transpired that the Away Team had come across a group of Yeti-like local inhabitants shortly after arriving on the surface of the planet. Fortunately the "locals" proved to be quite friendly and the Away Team managed to communicate with them. It seemed that the "locals" called themselves the Cryrairons and were happy for the Away Team to explore the area. However they were concerned that the Away Team should not go into a particular cave, as they felt that it would make their god angry.

Further reports from the Away Team stated that they had discovered some other caves in which there were a few wall paintings of humanoid figures dressed similar to Egyptians from Earth. It was apparently clear to the Away Team that the paintings had not been done by the "locals".

Dr Lane reported that he was becoming concerned about the possibility of hypothermia due to the length of time the Away Team had spent on the surface of the Ice planet. I therefore ordered the Away Team to return to the 'Armstrong, where plans could be made for a return visit to the surface.
