Executive Officer Genny7 Markus - Log, Stardate 121118:

While investigating a war bird on the planet ShoValla, Captain Toocool was kidnapped. In the battle that followed, we killed the Pirate Queen Zhiella Bruxxls and captured her ship, the "Maj", however the Argonaut was badly damaged. We have left her behind on ShoValla with the bulk of the Huitzilopochtli crew, for repair. Logs on the "Maj" indicate Captain Toocool was beamed off the Bird of Prey prior to the battle, we are now following the trail. The Huit's Second Officer, Commander Konora Meth, has been seconded to us for this Mission. The data we have on the pirates show they are from a variety of species, but their ships, weapons and equipment seems to be overwhelmingly Klingon, albeit out of date. We've managed to destroy the spacestation they were using for a base near the ShoVallan system.

We are now travelling through an unknown area of space, coaxing the best speed possible from the Maj. We're at least 7 light years from Treman, where we believe Captain Toocool was taken by slavers. Science is reporting we are in for a bumpy ride if we take the shortest route - we've already had to change course to avoid a gravimetric eddy. Tactical reports at least one pirate vessel still in pursuit, they hit one of the cloaked mines we deployed, revealing themselves to our sensors, however they have reduced speed and will not catch us as long as we keep moving. Communications have not received any reply to our efforts to hail the USS Argonaut, but we are getting an intermittent signal from what seems to be a Class-M planet in a binary system directly ahead.

Reporting: LT Commander David7 Bravin, Second Officer, USS Argonaut, Stardate 121125

I continued to scan the area of unfamiliar area space as we travelled toward Treman in search of Captain Toocool. I was concerned that having recommended the quickest, but no necessarily the safety route to Treman, that I needed to keep a watchful eye as we progressed.

Since we were still being pursued by the Klingon ship, we reconfigured a probe to emit a warp signature similar to that of our own. We then launched the probe off in a different direction to that of our course, so as to act as a decoy that hopefully the pursuing Klingon ship would follow.

Our course led us near a binary star system, that could well be the source of the gravimetric eddies that we had encountered earlier. As we got nearer to the star system, we heard a strange alien like sound. We traced this to a cylinder hidden within the medical supplies. Analysis revealed traces of both Klingon and human DNA on the cylinder. We speculated that it may be some form of homing beacon that had become activated somehow. We reported this to Cmdr Markus, but she seemed more interested in a report from Cmdr Meth about a signal coming from the binary star system.

Cmdr Markus ordered that we change course and head for the binary star system, due to the possibility that the signal might be of Federation origin. Along with other fellow officers I voiced my concerns about the hazards of entering such a system. Our concerns however were uncharacteristically dismissed by Cmdr Markus, who seemed to be acting a bit odd. Even when the ship started getting buffeted about, suggestions of raising our shields and going to red alert were ignored by Cmdr Markus. It seemed that we were going to enter the binary star system regardless of the dangers.
