A strange device retrieved from a dying planet by the Sheppard's crew suddenly seizes control of the ship.
Location: Midgar Sector, Parsec A2
Captain's log, Stardate 100922
Well, it seems Science is having a field day. I don't think I've seen Lt Odriscoll in such a happy mood - ever since we brought the object onboard it's all he has talked about, all he seems to be working on as well. Obviously, the enigma of the object and the strange planet it was on has really grabbed his imagination.
Though I do wonder about its link to the planet's destruction and really, whether we should have taken the device at all, as quite obviously disturbing it or the environment caused some sort of chain reaction that resulted in the planet quite literally falling apart. Quite how such an object would do so is beyond me, but it has meant that I've had to take the Sheppard to a safe distance. It has also raised some questions as to who put this device here.
After doing multiple scans and not finding anything but rock, I've decided that the Sheppard will continue on and chart the rest of this nebula. I may even decide to contact or stop over at Deshima station if we don't get any headway or answers from our examination of the device.
Computer, end log.
