Mission Report

USS Protector

Stardate: 130421

=========================================

Current Location: Galactic void between the Pegasus & Milkyway galaxy.

Commanding Officer's Log, Stardate 130421,

The Protector stopped to initiate an engine cooling cycle. We were receiving an automated distress signal through ancient radio frequencies. We decrypted the beeps heard as being an SOS, an ancient distress call method used about 200 years ago... We tracked down the signal to a runabout sized spaceship, we detected life forms aboard, although they were very weak. We beamed inside, and discovered a large section with what appeared to be cryogenic tanks, people inside, still frozen... We initiated the power systems of the vessel, lights and monitors turned on. We started analyzing the situation, reading the monitors learned us that the fuel tanks of the ship were almost depleted and that the people in stasis were in a state of almost complete cellular regeneration, entirely irremediable... They would have died if we attempted to revive them. We also learned that the ship was a top secret project initiated by the US Government in the year 1989... After the ship disappeared the project was scrapped and all traces erased. After thinking it through, we decided it would be best to let theses people die calmly and painlessly while in stasis... I modified my combadge to emit a signal so we could find the ship again if needed, I abandoned it there. Commander Zeppitay asked the Protector a transport for 4 persons. Soon after the engine cooling cycle was completed, we continued on our previous course to Pinastri.
