Prelude

Captain's Log Poison Toocool - USS Argonaut. Location: unknown. Stardate 130322:

We have passed through most of the Tiberius Nebula, using the unknown signal we have been receiving as a homing device to lead us through. Sensors are finally back online. We are approaching a system. It appears that the signal is coming from one of the five planets - a Class P, no less. Whatever life exists there must be hardy. We are curious to learn more about whoever has sent this message, but Science has still not been able to translate it. We may need to find a native speaker and obtain further samples before the universal translator can give us assistance.

Events

Reporting: LTcmdr David7 Bravin - Chief Science Officer, Stardate 130324

Aboard the USS Argonaut, having left the Tiberius Nebula, we made our way at warp 3 towards a solar system containing a Class P planet from where the signal we had been receiving seemed to have originated.

Doctor Lane continued to treat members of the crew for radiation sickness and was on hand to treat LTjg Faulkes who become ill whilst at the OPs station on the Bridge. I took advantage of the Doctor's presence on the Bridge by getting him to treat the continuing headache that I had been suffering.

I obtained information from Cmdr Markus, who was manning the Science Station, about the conditions we were likely to experience on a Class P Glaciated planet. Thus once we arrived and were in orbit, I decided that we should beam down to the surface. Our scans had revealed some buildings in the vicinity of the source of the signal. However there appeared to be a problem getting a good lock with the transporter system. I therefore organised an Away Team to come with me down to the surface in a shuttlecraft.

We landed the shuttlecraft near to where we had located the source of the transmission and associated buildings. Stepping out of the shuttlecraft was a bit of a shock to the system - it was extremely cold. In order to save time, I divided the Away Team into two separate teams to explore our immediate surroundings, adding that everyone should take care.

Because of local communication problems and the hostile environment, after a short while I ordered the two teams to regroup and report. Between the two teams we had found an encampment and a large building, both of which showed evidence of very recent occupation. The most disturbing find was a body of what appeared to be a humanoid life-form that had suffered a violent death.

Supplemental

Since no native speakers were found during the away mission to this planet, the system has been charted as the Molibus System, and the Class P planet named Glaciem, for Starfleet Records.
