The USS Sheppard is engaged in training missions prior to its launch. This first mission is based around the damaged Defiant-class USS Arrow and is being held in the Cascadia shipyards holodeck.

Prelude

All missions are currently training missions. They occur in the holodeck until the Sheppard is launched.

Captain's log, Stardate: 100213

After successfully recovering the USS Arrow and our stolen technology, we are heading back to Pinastri with the ship under escort. As for the status of the USS Arrow's crew, well the only clue we have is the stasis pods that have been recovered. I've requested permission from Command to remain out a bit longer and continue our investigations, but I'm not all that hopeful. They really want this ship back and the potential FTL technology it contains.

Computer, end log.

Events

While escorting the USS Arrow back to Pinastri, the Sheppard detected a distress beacon from a civilian transport, caught in some sort of plasma disturbance. Leaving the Arrow at a safe distance, the Sheppard pulled the captive vessel out using a tractor beam and then sent an away team to investigate. The away team uncovered three mutilated bodies, which turned out to be members of the lost crew of the USS Arrow. It seems that the Arrow's crew, stranded in the Delta Quadrant, had entered into a partnership with the Kazon to find a way home - but been betrayed.

While the away team investigated the transport vessel, a distress call came from the USS Arrow - it was under threat by an incoming Tarkan vessel. The Sheppard positioned herself between the Arrow and the Tarkan ship, but during the ensuing firefight, the already-damaged Arrow was hit and its warp core went critical, destroying the ship in an explosion that also claimed the Tarkan vessel. The alien technology uncovered on the Arrow was also lost.
