Captain's Log

  • computer begins recording*

Captain's log, stardate 101108.1733. Dr. Thiemen-Jayaram and I have returned to the Talisman, with no clues as to what caused her current condition. I have agreed to allow her to continue to work as the growth of these wings does not appear to be contagious or fatal and does not interfere with her work. Even still, I will make sure she is kept under close observation for any chages to her body, internal or external.

The Talisman is currently in orbit around the fourth planet of the Corwin system. Surface conditions appear to be hospitable enough to send an away team to have a look. Hopefully, the away team wont encounter the difficulties it did at Corwin III during my absence. No other ship's have been seen in the sector, so we should have no problems. There is still the matter of the random energy surge we keep reading, though Lt. Cmdr. Dixon has not been able to account for it other then it may just be a random glitch in the system. I will have to have engineering have a look to determine what may be causing it.

Event's Summary

On stardate 101108, Lt. Cmdr. Jackson T. Jayaram and Doctor Genna Thiemen-Jayaram returned to the Talisman as it was preparing to depart the Tokari sector. Before the Talisman could depart, they were confronted by a Klingon Negh'Vhar class warship flying under the flag of the House of Korgath, a Klingon pirate cartel. The trap that had been laid out by the ship's First Officer Lt. Cmdr. Brandi Meredith was now being sprung. Dr. David Warfin had resurfaced and claimed responsibility for the happenings on the Talisman and attempted to take control of the ship. The comprimised bridge officer's numbered Lieutenant Commander Shaun Dixon, Lieutenant Junior Grade Invader Dench, and Lieutenant Akara Dover, along with hundreds of other's throughout the ship. As Lt. Cmdr. Jayaram and the remaining unaffected bridge crew were about to be detained in the brig, they were able to overpower and subdue Lt. Cmdr. Dixon and they hastily brought him into sickbay to determine what means Dr. Warfin was using to control the Talisman crew.

Doctor Genna Thiemen-Jayaram ran several medical scans on Lt. Cmdr. Dixon and discovered that nanites had been injected into him and had embedded themselves into the cervical column which gave Warfin complete control over the commander's mind via a wave length similiar to a transporter signal. Lieutenant Commander Starsider determined that the nanites could be disabled and dissolved by emitting a gamma scan in the upper EM band throughout the ship. To prevent damage to the nanites that share a symbiotic relationship with Dr. Thiemen-Jayaram, she was held in the transporter pattern buffer for the duration of the scan. Lt. Cmdr. Starsider and Ens. McGill made their way to deflector control and from there were able to run the scan. After only a few short minutes, the affected crew had regained control of their facilities and control of the ship had been regained. The Talisman promptly opened fire on the Klingon ship Du'Quh, and Dr. Warfin ordered her captain to retreat after sustaining damage to the ship's starboard warp nacelle. The Talisman then pursued the Klingon vessel, following the trail of vented plasma.
