Captain's log, Stardate 100410

After the incident last Tuesday where the Sheppard successfully rescued captain Zenk and his ship, we are currently in orbit of an M-class planet planning our next move. Major Maverick has suggested a somewhat risky plan of using the merchant ship as bait and installing the SFC fighters into the merchant ship, so when it is attacked we can effectively ambush and take the pirates by force.

It's a strategy that i have some reservations about as a lot could go wrong - not to mention Captain Zenk's inconsistent behaviour, even for a ferengi, is adding to my worries. In any case, it's somthing we are going to have to work with as there are no other options I can think of to draw them out to a time and place of our choosing.

I've tasked the Sheppard and her crew to prepare Captain Zenk's ship to the best of her ability. Let's hope it will be enough.

Events

Captain's log, supplemental.

It seems that our little hiding place to prepare the merchant ship to be our bait has a secondary purpose - that of a dumping ground for the pirates. We witnessed a lone pirate ship dump a merchant ship they had evidently just raided, then warp out.

We managed to recover one survivor, a former Starfleet officer by the name of Drunk Radikal. He told us of how he was attacked. He managed to evade capture, but his crew were not so lucky and neither was his ship or cargo. Had it not been for us he would've burnt up in the atmosphere of the planet along with his ship.

We did also manage to recover the merchant ship's computer core before the rest of the vessel fell apart and burnt up, so hopefully we can gain some valuable intel from this as well as evidence.

Beta shift has also located multiple crash sites on the surface of the planet. Through analysis of several of these sites they where able to determine three positive ID's on missing ships as well as several others that are unknown.

All this evidence points to the fact that these guys are our likely culprits and with no organised security force other than our own ships in this region of space, it is up to us to deal with these pirates.

Captain Dwi out.
