The Sheppard crew mounts a rescue operation following the abduction of one of their comrades.
Location: Orbiting planet Talmont
Acting First Officer's log, Stardate 110430.
We are still in the orbit of "pirates' paradise" as the crew has started to call Talmont. Since Lt Coswell was abducted, we have been constantly monitoring the ship travel out of this system with no sign of the Uretchan assassin leaving the planet. Captain Dwi is still involved in the peace talks and we informed her about the situation here. While she seemed to be alarmed by the information about the Uretchans she also ordered us to do everything to retrieve Lt Coswell as soon as possible and find out more if possible. The absence of the Sheppard has already been noted by the delegations, which might arouse suspicion among some of the clans.
Furthermore, we tried to find out where Lt Coswell is held prisoner but we haven't been successful yet. Astrometics, together with security, however found out that the signal that masks transporter beams is deriving from the space station. This seems to be used generally in order to control the trade on the planet and the tariffs. Therefore it's only logical to beam to the station to find out where Lt Coswell was beamed to.
This will certainly not be easy as we haven't really made many friends with the dubious 'merchants' of this planet due to our close surveillance of the leaving ships. That doesn't seem to be good for their profits and some of them have already threatened to 'get rid of us'. So we have to be extremely cautious.
Computer, end log.
As the Sheppard orbited the planet Talmont, the crew began making preparations to continue search efforts for Operations Chief April Coswell. Scans indicated that there was major ion interference within the planet's atmosphere and that the only way into its command facility was through a fracture in the shielding matrix. An away team beamed down to the facility in search of information on the whereabouts of their lost crew member. While investigating, was met with much hostility by individuals who seemed to be staff but - unbenownst to the crew - were actually pirates. After working to download some logs from the facility, the away team was evacuated back to the ship - it seems that the crew's efforts to gain access to the logs had not gone unnoticed and a group of pirate vessels had approached Sheppard. They soon fired on the Starfleet ship, while another vessel - with definite human lifesigns onboard - seemed to be making a run for it.
Acting First Officer Kaelin Odriscoll ordered a pursuit course and, despite being intercepted for a time by the Rechtan police, the Sheppard was able to overtake the fleeing vessel and disable its shields and engines. An away team then beamed onboard, incapacitated a Urechtan guard and recovered a less-than-sane but otherwise unharmed Lieutenant Coswell.
