Mission Briefing

shipslog SD 110915 USS Menelaus,

fortunately oru ship was not unfixable without a visit home. Kosmos does wonders as always. We are now back towards that trade route, we had to get to last time. Everybody on board is in different stadius of anxious. Some are even already on the edge about the existens of these black ships in the area. Security has gotten more power to the tactical sensors and managed to raise their output for 0.5%. We aim higher as we need to find a way to sight them.

The captain had a relapse and went back to sickbay. I hope she will overcome that flue thing rather sooner then later.

Mission Log

Menelaus Computer Log, Stardate 110917, Lt. Commander tlhepa Gurbux, Acting Commanding Officer

Captain Sweet and Commanders Llewellyn and Foxley are currently treated on Sickbay and are unable to perform their duties. Some virus must have eluded our bio-sensors when we stopped at that M class planet to conduct repairs weeks ago. Luckily, no other crew member has been affected so far. I have taken command of the ship for the time they are incapacitated.

We were continuing our patrol route when long range scanners picked up unusual readings. They hinted at a ship or something else that might disrupt travel through the corridor we are patrolling. I decided to investigate. Approaching the system, our sensor readings hinted at yet another ship of the mysteries species that attacked us in the past.

This time, the ship appeared to be a scout, judging from the size. However, their weapons were just as devastating as the other ship's. The first hit severely drained our shields, as well as resulting in an explosion on the bridge that caused me to spend the rest of the fight in sickbay with severe burns. Commander Kanto had to take command.

The scout seemed to play with us, letting the ship travel short distances at warp unharmed and unheeded, but then hit once we dropped out of warp. We took heavy damage to the warp engines, as well as shields and weapons. With almost nothing to fight back with, we managed to retreat to a gas giant. We are now in low orbit, hiding in a magnetic storm we created in that planet's atmosphere with our last phaser power before burning out the coils. As predicted and suggested by Commander Kanto, the storm caused our sensors to go blind due to EM interference. We are hoping that the same effect is blinding the scout's sensors.

Using the planet's natural rotation, we hope to leave the atmosphere in their blind spot and leave the system without them noticing. Engineering crews are conducting repairs of all key systems. Estimates are these take a few hours, up to some days. I trust the repair crews work their usual miracles, and we can leave the planet's atmosphere with something to fight back.

End Log.
