The brand-new USS Sheppard, NCC-74679, leaves Alexandria for a series of pre-commissioning tests and trials.

Prelude

Captain's log, Stardate 100327.

Today, the Sheppard will be running some pre-launch systems checks and trials, basically a short shakedown cruise. Hopefully we can shake out some loose bolts from the ship - it would be embarrassing to have to call for help on our first mission, especially after equiping ourselves so well in the Red Sun Rising campaign.

Computer, end log.

Events

The ship slowly pulled away from her berth, her pristine egg-white hull gleaming in the projector lights. Cadets lined up at the windows of Alexandria to watch the brand-new Intrepid-class USS Sheppard get under way. As she cleared space dock, her commanding officer, Commander Mulgrave Dwi, ordered full impulse speed tests - and then warp speed tests. The Sheppard gained speed as her engines showed what they could do - only at warp 8 did some slight problems due to faulty gel packs appear, but that didn't stop the crew from briefly taking her to her maximum speed of warp 9.975.

Arriving in the system where her various systems would be tested, the Sheppard came to a full stop. Probes were launched, stationary and operational weapons tests were conducted. Data was taken on the efficiency and accuracy of the targeting systems. After a successful round of testing, the ship returned to Alexandria, where it assumed orbit, awaiting the official launch ceremony.
