At the Chenae repair facility, the Sheppard crew discovers some chilling connections between their new friends and the Seekers of the Light.
Location: 20,000 years in the future, enroute to a Chenae repair facility
Captain's log, Stardate 111127
The Sheppard will be reaching the Chenae facility within the next 36 hours. Our hosts will be providing us with alternate quarters for our stay, spread across a couple of their science facilities as well as the docks themselves; not the perfect solution but the Chenae are willing to do a major overhaul and Commander Merlin insists that the best thing is to have everyone off to allow the engineers room to work. This, of course, is not the perfect option. Even though they have given us no reason not to trust them I wont just hand over the ship to the Chenae. There will be a security contingent and Sheppard officers and crew on the ship at all times. There will also be additional security procedures put into force, of which despite some grumbling both Commander Merlin and the Chenae engineers have agreed to abide by.
As for the rest of the crew, despite this being a good opportunity for shore leave, I can't quite give it to them. We need to find out as much as we can about the Chenae and if or how they can help us. The most pressing matter is the similarities between their FTL technology and the anomalies that have been dragging us through time. I need to know if I can trust the Chenae and ask them for help in this matter, or if they are in some way linked to what is happening to us.
Computer, end log.
As the Sheppard approached its berth at the Chenae repair facility at quarter-impulse, preparations were made to move the crew over to the temporary guest quarters on the station. Chief of Operations [[April Coswell] and Chief of Security Cordova Marabana led two away teams to visit the premises, where they were greeted by an AI unit. The AI showed Commander Marabana's team the crew quarters, while Commander Coswell's team was given a tour of the science labs by Lead Scientist Tol'Rea. During this tour, the away team learned that the Chenae believe in the Way, which teaches them that science is the path to Enlightenment.
Lead Scientist Tol'Rea then showed them a device which the Chenae were experimenting in order to make themselves into beings of pure energy. She explained the Chenae's belief that they are fast approaching a point where they won't be able to learn anything more in a corporeal state - hence, the Way teaches them that it's time to evolve - to Ascend. The fact that this concept of ascension was also central to the Seekers of the Light's beliefs was not lost on the away team.
During the tour, Science officer Ravenheart wandered off to explore and accidentally entered into an off-limits area. Although his intrusion was dealt with in a firm but polite manner, he was able to learn much about the type of energy the Chenae harness in order to power their stations. The information was deemed so astounding by Commander Coswell that she insisted on eyes-only reports to the Captain on this matter.
