| Father was a medical officer on board a starship when he met my mother on liberty in Betazed. Their relationship was a tumultuous, passionate encounter, resulting in the birth of their only child. I was eight years old when my human father was killed in an attack by the Borg, leaving my mother so distraught that she left Earth. Since life on Earth was all I ever knew, it was mutually decided that I would stay on earth with my paternal grandparents while my mother returned to Betazed. As I grew up under the Christian influence of my grandparents, I rejected the polytheistic beliefs of my betazoid history in favor of the Christian God, but not with the rigidity that I noticed in some Christians. I still travel to Betazed periodically to visit my mother, who eventually married someone from Betazed during her healing process from the loss of my father.
Being half Betazoid, I possess some empathic abilities, not as pronounced as someone who is fully betazoid, but these empathic abilities led me to Harvard Medical School, wh ere I initially met my husband. However it wasn't until we both applied with UFS that our relationship rekindled, deciding early on that both of us would go for the medical track as officers and hopefully be assigned to the same location. Unfortunately, citing irreconcilable differences, our paths have separated again, even though we are assigned to the same ship. Being half Betazoid, I possess some empathic abilities, not as pronounced as someone who is fully betazoid, but these empathic abilities led me to Harvard Medical School, wh ere I initially met my husband.
