General Information

The Iwo is the newest ship in the Marine Arsenal for transport and deployment of troops to the battlefield. It is designed for speed and rapid deployment, carrying one United Federation Starfleet Marine Expeditionary Unit or MEU or at most two to a location. At least two are kept stocked, supplied and equipped for immediate launch in each MEF. All they need to do is load the troops and warp out. The Iwo Jima entered service shortly before the Dominion War broke out in 2373.
