Otusian (Otus Verkus)
Specification: Mammal, HybridColouring: Varies. Basic pattern: Body, top, tail and mask, default. Light belly. Light face. Stripes along the back from neck to tail. Life duration: Practically unlimited. Death mostly caused by external forces. The otusian is a fairly long and relatively short limbed creature. Despite their short measures, their limbs come with very strong muscles. The head of the otusian is relatively big, having enough capacity to contain: A pair of eyes, which have specialized in changes in the environment (for example, switching from nightvision to brightvision takes just a fraction of a second.), with a little disadvantage of slight colour blindness, A cranial cavity to hold a decent sized brain. Despite the big brain size, the otusian is still not a genius. Long ears with an efficient sense of hearing. Very strong jaws, equipped with a set of strong and sturdy teeth, 4+4 "nibbling" front teeth, Strong fangs with reinforcing duplicate fangs for safer dragging and ripping, 4+4+4+4 big triangular back teeth with jagged edges, combined with the strong bite, able to cut through wood, bone and even soft metal like warm butter. The jaw is able to open as wide as 95 degrees, and can be temporarily dislocated. A big sensitive nose, containing the biggest amount of nerve endings outside the otusian body, equipped with an 80 cubic centimeter nasal cavity lined with high precision scent sensors, giving the otusian a six times more efficient sense of smell compared to an average canine. A strong prehensile tongue, lined with rough, cat-like comb structure at the middle, capable to stretch for over 60 centimeter out of the mouth. The big head is connected to a long, sturdy neck, full of muscle strong enough to tip over a small car by lifting. Inside of the neck lies a rather stretchy, high duration gullet lined with strong muscle to force down even the most unpleasant meals with ease. The respiratory line inside the neck is divided into two tubes, allowing the creature to breathe even if one of them is blocked. At the end of the respiratory lines are the relatively advanced vocal chords, able to produce a wide variety of different sounds of communication. The supportive structure of the neck consists of six thick vertebrae that connect the skull into the spine. The skeletal structure of the otusian doesn't deviate very much from the basic mammalian skeleton, other than following the otusian's slender shape. Inside the long, flexible body is a full set of inner organs. Back in the chest cavity, the 2 piece respiratory lines join back together and connect into a pair of big lungs, with enough capacity to sustain the creature's life functions even in low oxygen levels. The heart lies snugly in its cavity between the lungs, The size of the heart can vary from a grapefruit to a small melon, depending on the size of the creature and the hostility of the environment, pumping fresh blood around the whole body. The liver is relatively small, mainly caused by the unusual nature of the otusian digestive system. The otusian has an acid free stomach. While most animals rely on acids in their digestive fluids, the otusian stomach secretes fluid saturated with differently charged particles, liquidating the ingested matter deep in atom level. However, not everything is completely broken down. The "smart" fluids can stop breaking down the matter if it's already in desired form (in other words, already nutritious), which saves a lot of energy when consuming generally edible stuff. The unnutritious waste material that has been broken down, is then rebuilt into nutritients and absorbed along the digestive tract. This kind of function comes in handy when the food sources are scarce. The otusian can practically survive by eating anything, although the less nutritious stuff will of course take more energy to consume, requiring a lot bigger food input with far less received energy. The otusian digestive system only takes what it needs. At the end of the tract, the excess matter is rebuilt into eco-friendly biodegradeable pellets (aka poop). Practically the excess material could be built into anything, like even raw diamonds or living things. The rest of the inner organs don't include any special features exclusive for otusians. Otusians have 4 toe appendages in each limb. The front limbs are slightly hand-like, having three fingers and a thumb, each of them equipped with a strong semi-rectactable claw. The hind legs have 4 toes each, also equipped with similar claws as in the front. The tail is evenly thick, built around a sturdy tail bone structure. The lenght of the tail can vary from 50 cm to even 2 meters. With their body structure, otusians make excellent climbers, mastering such environments as mountains and wooded areas, which of course do not lim it their ability to live anywhere else. The only environments hostile enough to keep the otusian away are the extreme conditions with temperature and terrain. One would not expect finding an otusian at deserts or arctic snowfields. A side Note: Otusian Males and females at the age of 13 become of age. At this age buy there races Law they are requred to choose a collar thats incodeded just for them. They must wear the collar for the rest of there lives. It is to NEVER to be taken off unless they are bathing and must be put on immediately afteter bathing. They must wear it no mater what other clothing they where. not wearing the collar for more then 2 hour will triger a alert in the collar. The alert will immediately be sent back to the home world making the Otusian an outcast from his or her world. at this time they are put on a wanted list to be executed. This is why you will nerver see a Otusian without a collar on. Any Otusian's born off world are also requred at the age of 13 to return to the home world to be registered and to be fitted with a collar. Any Otusian's found with out a coller are to be repoted immediately for the extradition to there home world for execution. | ||||||||||||||
