Captain's Log

  • computer begins recording*

Captain's Log, stardate 101020.1012. We have conducted our survey of the first system of the Tokari sector. Unfortunately, the planets within the Mutara-type nebula did not yield anything interesting. Just as Mr Starsider had anticipated, we discovered a grouping of a bunch of lifeless rocks. A shame really, as I was quite looking forward to seeing what lifeforms could sustain themselves inside a nebula such as that. We are moving on to the second system within the sector.

Additionally, we had two as of yet unexplained engineering malfunctions. The first of which was a minor energy surge the ships external sensors had picked up briefly at one point. The surge hasnt been recorded again since. The second was the mysterious activation of the fire suppression system in the brig. No sign of a fire anywhere on that deck was found. Commanders Meredith and Dixon did a thorough search, but could find nothing. Engineering has yet to find a cause for either event.

Something about the whole thing doesnt seem quite right. The USS Talisman is less the a year out from the construction yards at Pinastri. The liklihood that these are "bugs" in her systems I find to be very low. What worries me further is Dr. Thiemen-Jayaram from all outward apperances seems to be bothered by something, but I do not yet know what that may be. Her Betazoid instincts have never proved wrong in the past, so I will be keeping a more watchful eye on everything in the next coming weeks.

Event's Summary

On stardate 101020, the crew of the USS Talisman returned from its shore leave after their encounter with the Oo'Tuka and the mysterious circumstances surrounding their defeat. The Talisman resumed her general mission of exploration in the Tokari sector. The investigation began in the first system of the sector which is located within a Mutara-type nebula. The initial sensor scans of the system revealed nothing of remarkable interest, and only that the system contained a "grouping of a bunch of lifeless rocks" as Lt. Cmdr. Lans Starsider phrased it. The only odd occurance while in the system was that there was seemingly two unexplained engineering malfunctions. The first was a minor energy surge that the ship's sensors had briefly picked up, the other being the activation of the fire surpression system in the brig. Lt. Cmdr.'s Meredith and Dixon were dispatched to the brig to investigate, but no sign of a fire was present. With nothing else of interest found in the system, the Talisman moved on to the next system in the Tokari sector.
